Research Interests

The research efforts in my group have been focused on developing novel surface functionalization protocols/methods to immobilize either macromolecules (enzymes, proteins, bioactive agents) or engineered nanoparticles for various applications, i.e., nano-bio processing, delivery systems, as nano-antimicrobials and treatment of environmental contaminants. For discrete yet diverged research domains, the major purpose of executing various immobilization or surface-functionalization approaches is to envisage a sustained but controlled effect of loaded entity over a longer period of time. Moreover, the immobilized system should be highly stable to withstand harsh process conditions, yet efficient to be repeatedly used without much compromising its efficacy. Some of the major research interests are mentioned;

 

Cellulosic biomass utilization using nano-inspired biocatalysts

Graphene oxide/Chitosan based hydrogel for designing anti-biofouling biomaterials

Surface functionalization of polymeric nanocomposites for diagnostic applications 

Development of nano antimicrobial biomaterials as biocompatible coatings in surgical implants

TiO2 based Bionanocomposites for degradation of pharmaceutical contaminants in wastewater

Fabrication of electrospun nanofibers as a scaffold matrix for tissue engineering applications

Hybrid nanomaterials as a delivery vehicle for biopesticides/micronutrients in agriculture

Stem cell engineering and guided tissue regeneration
