School of Mathematics and Computer Applications came into existence in the year 2002 when a major academic restructuring of different schools and departments took place in the University. This school was formed to look after the activities related with Mathematics courses , Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme and to contribute towards the research areas of Mathematics and Computer Applications. Prior to 2002, faculty of SMCA was the part of School of Basic and Applied Sciences and that of MCA programme was associated with Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
In the year 2007, school has started a new post graduate programme namely M.Sc in Mathematics and Computing with an intake of 20 students each year. This is a unique kind of programme having a combination of Mathematics and Computer Science. Also In the year 2007 School has increased the intake in MCA from 60 to 120.
In 2010, school has started M.Tech(Computer Science and Applications) regular mode with 30 seats. Then in 2012, school started various courses:
1. M.Tech(Computer Science and Applications) part time mode

2. 5 year Dual Degree BCA-MCA Programme regular mode
No. of Seats: 30 (Gen-21, SC/ST-8, PH-1)+ 5 FN/NRI seats.
3. 5 year Dual Degree BSc-MSc Programme
No. of Seats in each discipline: 30 (Gen-21, SC/ST-8, PH-1)+ 5 FN/NRI seats.
The faculty of SMCA is committed to maintain high standards of instructions delivery and training that is essential in the areas of Mathematics and Computer Applications. The faculty of school is highly qualified with world class research to their credit in the thrust areas of Mathematics and Computer Applications. The faculty works with a mission to take the School of Mathematics and Computer Applications to the level of the departments of internationally recognized Institute/ university in India as well as in abroad.
