The Purpose       Focus       Cultural Computing

The purpose of the Language Grid in Thapar University is t o both provide technical aid to the university and to promote intercultural collaboration.   Our focus is to collaborate Indian languages and culture with other countries. History of Indian culture reveals its richness by the fact that it easily and openly merges with outside influences.   Cultural Computing covers many research aspects, starting from the topic of art and technology, proceeding to the topic of culture and technology, and finally reaching to the topic of the new world based on the integration of these different concepts where both creators and viewers can reach deep mutual understandings. We can define it as:

“…the study which attempts to understand the phenomenon of interaction of mind (conscious and unconscious) with the virtual world which is unregulated and indeterminate content and the role of computing technology in contriving the culture.”
