History of Mathematics at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology School of Mathematics (SoM) was established as an independent entity in 2015 to promote teaching and research in mathematical sciences. Earlier the school was part of the School of Mathematics and Computer Applications which came into existence in the year 2002 when a major academic restructuring of different schools and departments took place at the . Our growth has been stimulated by mathematics and statistics being vitally important disciplines that underpin a vast range of human endeavors, and with the increasing quantification and the digitization of the world they are set to become even more important. The school offers M.Sc. (Mathematics and Computing) and Ph.D programme. Besides these, school also offers several mathematics courses to B.E., M. E., M. Tech and MCA students. The school is committed to provide quality teaching with modern infrastructure and syllabus. The faculty of the school is highly qualified with world class research to its credit. Several faculty members are working on sponsored projects. We also collaborate with other organizations for short-term as well as long-term research collaborations.
